Committing to understanding your dog as the individual it is, is the act of openness and love of relating to another species.
A lot of what has been written in the past and some present information for raising a dog is based on studies of wolves and then applying the observations to dogs. That information has led to the "alpha" mentality or dominance theories.
Unfortunately , the fact that the wolves that were studied were in captivity or an artificial environment is like applying the theory that all humans are the same as the observations of the humans in the series Jersey Shores. Nor does it make the realization that our present day dogs have been with humans for thousands of years. So really "Rover" isn't wolfy at all! Rover is a social creature dependent on Humans.
The goal of this "Canine Relating" site will be to realize what your dog's natural behavior is, what your dog wants from you, then, how can we apply the information to achieve what we are needing from our canine companions.
